POINTS
Most tickets are moving violations. The ones that are not, you don’t need to worry about. Moving violations mean points and potential insurance complications. Simple speeding, Accidents and even the more serious charges can usually be minimized depending on the charge, the jurisdiction and your record. Your record can affect your insurance rates and how a prosecutor looks at the pending charge. Point accumulations can result in your license being suspended. Don’t forget, Missouri has an interstate compact that probably means an out-of-state conviction causes Missouri points.
Call me with ticket issues before court dates. Many prosecutors will make legal plea arrangements to help a driver save points. Many times I have made these arrangements through the mail in States other than Missouri. Complications do arise in “high” speed tickets, accidents and CDL licenses.
SUSPENSION notices from the Missouri Department of Revenue
Try this site to see how many points it takes to get suspended. It’s not as many as you think.

Make sure the Department has your current address so you can get notices. Don’t ignore them either. They also make mistakes and if you need to appeal any decision, it must be done on a timely basis.
SET ASIDE CONVICTIONS might be possible after the fact if it is not too long. So if you just sent the money in to pay the fine and then realized the points and impact, you may be able to set aside the conviction and make a no-point plea. It gets very difficult to do after a year. It will also depend on the prosecutor’s policies and what your record looks like. (The cleaner, the better!)
